Hi all -
Wanted to get you an update on what has been happening since the Shakopee Diversity Summit. Those who signed up for the Diversity Task Force have been meeting the past month and have renamed the group to the Shakopee Diversity Alliance and created their vision:
The Shakopee Diversity Alliance’s vision is that through collaboration and awareness, Shakopee is united as a vibrant, diverse, inclusive community.
Their top three goals are:
- Host an international event.
- Build a resource network.
- Enhance education and cultural awareness opportunities.
A dedicated team is leading the group right now and they are working through governance and details so more people are not needed at this point. However, in the next few months announcements will be made with opportunities for those who care about diversity in Shakopee to get more involved.
If you have been involved, the next meeting is June 18, 6:00 PM at St Gertrudes – bring a dinner item for pot luck!
