Good steamy evening, Shakopee -
The Shakopee PD held their annual torch run today raising money for the Special Olympics! We are so lucky to have amazing staff in Shakopee dedicated to our community!
We had a pretty quick meeting tonight and got a lot accomplished! Here are the highlights:
- 10]E]1. Approved the 1st Residential Development in 4 years!! This 70-lot, single family development is on the southwest corner of Marschall (17) x CR 78 and is called Valley Creek 2nd Addition. There are a few issues yet to be resolved, but they will be breaking ground in the near future!
- 10]C]1. Approved lighting 2 of the fields at 17th Ave Sports Complex. A great partnership between public and private entities. Both the Youth Soccer Assn and Youth Football Associations are donating money to get this done and will be ready for fall Football!
- 10]F]3. We’re getting a new city website!!! Quite a bit of discussion on how we should move forward with our website and decided to create a task force of residents who can help with usability, technical and other items as needed. Coming back to City Council in October for a hoped Jan 1 launch.
Other than my inadvertent use of the word h*ll (sorry about that), those were the major items of the night.
I’m headed to Duluth for the next couple of days for the League of MN Cities Annual Conference. Hope to come back with a lot of good information to continue moving Shakopee Forward!
