I am so lucky to be in the position I am in Shakopee! Right before Christmas, I got a couple of fat envelopes filled with letters from students at Sweeney Elementary. They were learning about Mayors and local government by reading a couple of books and they decided to write me letters asking what it is like being Mayor of Shakopee.
Many of the kids live in Bonnevista Terrace, a mobile home park in Jackson Township outside the city limits.
These kids are Shakopee’s future and I am glad they are learning about government!

The Shakopee Diversity Alliance is working hard to provide more opportunities for success for these students. Be part of the solution and help create change within Shakopee supporting and promoting our great diversity!! Their next meeting is January 31, 2013 at 6:30 at the YMCA.
