- Two daughters – Jean is 4 years old – sorry, 4 1/2 years old – and Ila was born in April
- MacKenzie, the beagle, is 9
- Grew up on a farm (cattle, sheep, hogs, row crops) in Moville, Iowa where Mom and Dad live today

- Shakopee Chamber and Visitors Bureau – Chair of the Board 2011, board member since 2007
- Shakopee Parks & Recreation Advisory Board – Chair since 2007, board member since 2004
- Shakopee’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan - Parks, trails and open spaces committee
- Come Together for Shakopee – Chair of group promoting referendum on Community Center improvements
- Hearts & Hammers – Home Coordinator from 2006 to 2010
- Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Assn – Landscape Management Chair
- Professional Landcare Network (National Assn for Landscape) – Landscape Management Committee
- Teach classes through the MPCA on Landscape maintenance for better water quality (it is more interesting than it sounds)
